"Shredder" Stencil Mural at CHS

Lil film I made about Shredder, a 9' x 9' eight-layer stencil mural created by some of our Advanced Art Coronado High School students in Fall 2011.

I recently found this photo circa 2002 of my sculpture/installation piece entitled, "Salsa Tower" which was part of my mexican food series from my advanced sculpture class at San Diego State. It was roughly 8 ft tall and comprised of salsa containers and to-go containers! Click photo to make larger:

Silhouettes

I have been doing many child silhouettes lately. I've actually been kind of obsessed with them for a while, even my blog button logo is a cameo of myself.

I took the idea of the traditional profile silhouettes and gave it a contemporary, bright twist. These make a perfect custom gift and are less expensive than a portrait painting. These cameos can be created as a graphic print or as a painting on canvas. They can be done with typography(with words that relate to the subject etc) or a painted scene inside the silhouette.

Juror's Choice Award- Visions of Coronado

The Visions of Coronado Juried Art Show opening reception was a great success. One of my pieces won a juror's choice award!

"From now through February 20, Visions of Coronado, an exhibit of 23 recent works of art depicting some aspect of Coronado life will be on display at the Coronado Museum of History and Art. The juried show was selected from 60 original pieces submitted by artists from all over San Diego County and created in a wide variety of media, materials and styles.

The jurors were: Cornelia Feye, Director, School of the Arts and Art Education, La Jolla Athenaeum; Bill Mosley, Artist and Professor, Grossmont College; and Leah Ollman, Art Critic, Los Angeles Times.

Three Juror's Choice Awards were presented at the opening reception for:
Joan Boyer's oil painting, "Night-time on the Beach"
Anna Woerman's photograph entitled, "Blackout"
and Laurie McCray's photographic art printed on canvas,"Hotel Del Drive By."

Visions of Coronado is on view in the Museum through February 20. Bring your friends and stop by soon to enjoy these inspiring works of art!!" -Coronado Museum of History and Art
